Happy Holidays everyone! If you celebrate the holidays, we hope you're having a Merry one! Today we have an awesome Xmas gift!

We were soon excited to get this next author! I read her book(after Libby's obsession with the Percy Jackson series, and the consistent spoilers she gave me)in hopes to read a character of color in a Greek mythology setting.

What rocked the most about "Promise of Shadows" was the it's heroine! She was a blue haired, dreadlocked black girl, with the power to change her people's situation. How cool is that?

As a essential voice in the #WeNeedDiverseBooks campaign, we got to chat with her about diversity, her books, and obviously her awesome-ness!

Last week? A whomping success. Many of our featured guests let their friends and readers know about our Diversity Month event, as well as you awesome bloggers.

There were so many great guests last week, but the best(or should I say equally best) is yet to come!

I should also mention, that recently Guinevere did a guest post on GayYa! It's set to post in a few days, and hopefully we'll get to see them during our Diversity Month event, but in the meantime, here is this week's awesome-sauce schedule!

So we jumped on the bandwagon and joined Wattpad! 

It's an awesome social network for writers to gain audiences for their work. It's truly for everyone. Four authors that I follow and read myself are up there(to name a few Justina Ireland, Marissa Meyer, Heather Heffner and Red Harvey).

We're still in the middle of editing our first work under GL Tomas. But we wanted to start sharing our unedited work. 

Also take in mind, the cover up there, is an untouched, unedited, definitely not going to be the cover, cover of the book. Before we found our artist soul mate Alice Bessoni(which if your nosy, you can find it snooping around) =) We commissioned covers, not sure of what we wanted.

But an awesome cover pays for itself, and our actual cover is FREAKING AWESOME!

We'll be revealing an unedited chapter a week for Act I of "The Mark of Noba."

"The Mark of Noba" follows the exploits of Sterling Wayfairer, who finds out he is spiritually linked to Sai Liber-Tetraphirmaportacheeq(Don't worry, he can never pronounce it either!) aka Tetra.

They share a connection known as a "Bond" which results in them sharing each other's soul, and enables them to manipulate elements, known as "riding."

Been a little distracted over the past few days, so we're revealing five lists in one day to conclude our month long event for Black Speculative Fiction!  

It's kind of no secret that we have an insane preference for Young Adult. Young Adult is just about one of the most versatile categories a writer can write in and while all the haters out there who think YA is just for teens, Libertad and myself pride ourselves in our love of YA titles!

There's something about reliving your Young Adult stage through a book. We all remember what it was like to be 15, awkward and going through things for the first time. It's always interesting to see teens have to go through these things WHILE having to save the world too.

Promise of Shadows by Justina Ireland

I found out about this book through a blog post on Diversity in YA. I was intrigued on how a book about Greek mythology would incorporate diversity, when many associate the Greeks with "white." In some ways I agree with this, but on the other hand, my sister's recent obsession with "The Percy Jackson" series has left me at a stand still. Fictional white gods shouldn't be a viable excuse for the lack of diversity, and "Promise of Shadows" is definitely proof that characters being different races doesn't take away from these "fictional" myths.
