Week Four of OUR Favorites, Day Four :Favorite Authors- ELLEN OH + Ellen Oh's Prophecy/Warrior & Sarwat Chadda's The Savage Fortress/The City of Death giveaway!
We're approaching our last two days of our Favorites Month and It's been just an amazing ride compiling a few lists of our favorites!
As we reach the event's end, we realize this list would not be complete without today's favorite:

I have to say I fell in love with Ellen waaaay before I read her books. I came across this thoughtfully honest post she wrote about "Why being a POC author sucks sometimes" and still, after a year of it lounging in my web history, It still manages to make an impact on me every time I read it!
As the creator of the #Weneeddiversebooks movement, she understands how important it is to have stories that represent all readers and that's all we ever wanted to do with this book blog! Yea, we may not have a lot of followers like the book blogs that review all the popular books but every time we get that one email from someone who says that they love our blog. It reminds us that Ellen's venture was more than just a hashtag, it was a Movement!

Diversity on The Shelf-Reading Challenge 2014
Soooooo My sister and I don't usually join reading challenges but this one really caught our eyes!!! Either one of us should have no problem getting achieving this goal!!!
I'm(Libertad) going to set a goal of the 4th shelf, which is a goal of 19-24 books. I'm dealing with a bunch of stuff this year, but I know I can definitely handle 24 books!!!! I'll be tracking my progress every month!!!I'm sure
Here's what I've completed so far:
2. The challenge will run from January 1, 2014 – December 31, 2014 (books read prior to 1/1/2014 do not count towards the challenge). You can join anytime before 12/1/2014. Sign up at My Little Pocketbooks
3. Books can be any format (print, ebook, audio).
4. Novellas, Short story collections, Poetry, Graphic novels/manga, Children Books, and all genres are allowed.
5. Books can be of any publication date.
6. You can choose your books as you go or create a list in advance. Re-reads and crossovers from other reading challenges are allowed.
You do not have to be a book blogger to participate; you can track your progress on Goodreads, LibraryThing, BookLikes, Libib, etc., just as long as you have a dedicated shelf for the Diversity on the Shelf 2014 Challenge and your profile is not private. The point of linking up is to have a place where people can see what you’re reading.

Welcome to the 1st year of the Diversity on the Shelf reading challenge. The aim of Diversity on the Shelf 2014 Challenge is add diversity to you bookshelf by reading books by authors of color and/or about a main character of color.
Challenge Details
1. Any book (by any author) with a main character that is a person of color qualifies for this reading challenge, as well as any book written by an author of color. The goal is to encourage readers have a more diverse reading experience and to support diversity in the publishing industry by reading and reviewing books by or about person of color.2. Join the Challenge
To join the challenge, grab the Diversity on the Shelf 2014 Challenge button and post this reading challenge on your blog to track your progress. Please include a link back to this sign-up post so others can join the reading challenge too. You do not have to be a book blogger to participate; you can track your progress on Goodreads, LibraryThing, BookLikes, Libib, etc., just as long as you have a dedicated shelf for the Diversity on the Shelf 2014 Challenge and your profile is not private. The point of linking up is to have a place where people can see what you’re reading.
Pick a Level
Choose how many diversity centered books you would like to add to your “read” shelf in 2014:
1st Shelf: Read 1-6 books
2nd Shelf: Read 7 -12 books
3rd Shelf: Read 13 - 18 books
4th Shelf: Read 19 -24 books
5th Shelf: Read 25+ books
Once you pick a level you can go higher and read more books but you cannot go down a level.
If you'd like to participate in the Diversity on the Shelf 2014 Reading Challenge, please sign up, and if you have a blog please spread the word by grabbing the button and post about your participation.
