Interesting start to a New Year

Just wanted to catch everyone before January ended. Hope everyone had a good New Year.

Twinja Book Reviews has been having a rough January, and it is the reason why there was no interview for the month of January.

I(Guinevere) recently had two setbacks.

One, I lost my IPhone. To be honest, I could've lived with it, because it was just a phone. An expensive one, but just a phone. It was my very first smartphone, and kept me well connected when it came to my half of the blog runs. Not having it set me back, as my laptop literacy immediately decreases when dealing with my phone XD

Two, my identify was recently stolen. A person I used to work with, swiped my case full of credit cards and debit cards, even gift cards, and I suffered greatly because of it. Libertad also suffered, because I've been broke all this time, and stealing from me is essentially stealing from her.

What bugged me was that I worked with this person, and given them rides home in the past, so when I realized my stuff was missing, I didn't automatically excuse them, in hopes that they wouldn't do such a thing to me. There were too many clues that pointed to this person when they started spending my money =(

So I didn't have a choice but to call the police. It's still in the process, so between being had for almost 400 bucks on my debit card, 50 bucks on my credit card and 40 dollars worth of gift cards, blogging has really suffered because to be plain honest, we just weren't worried about it.

We urge anyone to be really careful of who you trust. I was targeted by someone I knew. Authors, aspiring and established, be weary of what and who you're putting your money into, because they're at best complete strangers to you.

This has pushed back our book release, a fantasy/science fiction novel titled "The Mark of Noba." It was something we were planning for a January release, but we just cant afford to at this very second.

Which sucks, because it featured an interracial tag team as the main characters, as well as being diverse all around.

But yeah, we wanted to apologize for anyone who does check in every so often, and followed us faithfully, that we haven't given up, we've just been given setbacks that take time to fix.

There will not be an interview THIS month. But look out in February for a great interview from an author, blogger, editor or agent who does promote diversity in some way. We still plan to highlight a martial artist every month =)

Were trying to make that our thing. With so many memes and the like, so many blogs look and have the exact same feel. Were really trying to standout and do something different, even if were not reading the same mainstream books everyone else is reading.

We hope everyone had a great New Year =)

P.S. One ounce of good news is great news. That IPhone I lost in December? The person who found it returned it a month later, which was a few days ago. I didn't even have to buy a new one. It sucked a bit, because since they intended to keep it, they erased everything on it. But when they realized they couldn't use it, they offered to have me pick it up at their dad's business(I know right, trying to figure out how they didn't already have one since their dad has a business, but oh well).

  1. Ouch, it must have sucked big time, for more than a reason. I hope the investigation turns out the right way and you have the chance to get your money back.

LOL. And they sure had some nerve, didn't they? "Sorry, I erased all your phone's contents, but since I realized it's no use to me I will graciously let you have it back. Come pick it up at mine. Regards, X.Y.".

  2. I am so sorry that happened to you Guinevere. And the clown who was going to keep your iPhone only to discover they couldn't use it...just LAME. Is there anything I can do bookwise to bring attention to "The Mark of Noba" like an advanced review? You know I love writing reviews, lol.

  3. @Roberta R. Just trying to be as positive as possible =) Im trying not to be negative just because my year started out so horribly. Thanks for take the time to comment. We really appreciate it.

@Kymberlyn Reed. It's definitely alright. No one needs to apologize for something they did not do =) It just sucks a bit, because it's postponed many things I planned to do for the month of January, so anything I planned for after January is postponed later as well.

As far as "The Mark of Noba" goes, Most likely Libby and I will send you a paperback for free. But please, be honest. We believe that our online relationship with you is awesome, and you giving us a bad review wouldn't change that. If you end up hating it, it would be alright if you kept it real. To be honest, if you didn't, we'd have no faith in the honesty of reviews, because you're typically sharply incisive, and that would be alright with us. If anything it would make us grow =)

  4. That is so horrible especially from somebody that you trusted. Utter scumbag, that so called friend. You have NOTHING to apologize for, none of this is your fault. Real life stuff always has to come first and we'll still be here when you get a bit more time. It's the same on my groups over at GR-at times I have to let things slide a bit when real life crashes in and I feel so guilty!

  5. Unless you're rewriting Twilight, I doubt I'd hate it, lol.
