August Martial Artist Spotlight: Marjean Holden

So this month's Martial Artist Spotlight is a real treat!
Many probably can't recall where they know August's Spotlight choice, but any fan of the video game Mortal Kombat, and its awesome films are not seeing things!

August Martial Artist Spotlight:

Marjean Holden
What's interesting about Marjean, is that she started out a stunt woman. As an African-American woman who was known for her great height at 6', she was still able to breakthrough and make a name for herself in such a bias industry.

She can credit her training to Boxing and holding a Black Belt in a Kung Fu style by the name of Wun Hop Kuen Do, which have helped her land stunt work in movies like Blade and Speed 2: Cruise Control.

Martial Arts movie fans will recognize her from Ballistic, where she went up against bodybuilder Corrina Everson.

But most fans might do double takes if they've seen Mortal Kombat: Annihilation! She portrayed Sheeva, her most prolific role to date.
Marjean has stated she doesn't practice as much anymore since starting a family, but doesn't it just rock to see a Black female martial artist?

You hardly see any make mainstream! If anyone can name any, we'd be forever in their debt!
