This weeks wonderful question:

Q: Have you broken up with a series? If so which one and why?

Guinevere:
I would have to The Falling Under Series by Gwen Hayes. I just felt like the characters that i loved in the first book changed so much in the second book to the point where they were almost unrecognizable. Which was a pity because I was totally obsessed with all the characters, so for their personalities to somehow change, it really bummed me out. Plus the second book kind of took a predictable turn, so unless i got it at a bargain book store, I probably wouldn't invest in the next one :(
Libertad:
I'm pretty sure many people loved this book, but unfortunately after reading the first, I just couldn't invest into the rest of the series.I just hated how they spent little time on explaining how the lead guy, Damen, was immortal. It's like she mentioned physics in one sentence and suddenly that was supposed to open my eyes on how he was immortal.Don't use science unless you can elaborate on the way it works.

Guinevere's answer :
That's easy, The Infernal Devices Series by Cassandra Clare. It was a ride from start to finish!
Libertad's Answer:
I wish I could say the same as my sister but I haven't read Clockwork Princess yet, so i think it would be unfair of me to judge the whole trilogy off of only reading the first two books. So for now I'll say Cassandra Clare's other trilogy The Mortal Instruments Series. I've read the first 3 and really loved them, but i will admit i love the Infernal Devices better.

  1. Hey, there!

Guin, it's too bad you didn't like the second book in The Falling Under series....I had been looking forward to reading it myself, but now that you've posted this, I think I'll probably pass.

As for he other two series you guys mention, I DEFINITELY want to read them!! Cassandra Clare is supposed to be a terrific YA author, and the first movie from The Mortal Instruments is coming soon!! I gotta get started! Lol.

    Have a GREAT weekend!! :)

  2. Ladies,
This is one cute blog! I love the whole idea about bringing multiculturalism into YA books. That is something that should be done more often.

  7. Guin- I hate it when characters change so much that they aren't who you grew attached to. So I don't blame you for breaking up with that series! :)

Libertad- I haven't read that series yet but it's been on my list to read and I keep pushing it aside. I hate how sometimes I feel like we're just supposed to "know" things sometimes as well. Take one paragraph at least and find a way to clue us in to how your world works!

Thanks for stopping by and following on my FF the other day :)

New follower on GFC and Bloglovin' Enjoy your weekend ladies!!

  9. I didn't want to keep reading the Evermore series either! But a lot of times I will read the first book in a series and choose not to keep reading, so I didn't include all of those books in this week's question. But just like you...I was not interested in pursuing the series.

Thanks for following me! I am following back via Bloglovin and GFC.

  10. I haven't read Falling Under, but I don't know if I will or not. I have read Evermore, but haven't read any more of the series. I probably will continue that series, but it's not a priority.

Thanks for stopping by! I'm now following you back via GFC

  11. Characters that drastically change? That sounds awful. I wouldn't have continued either. Thanks for stopping by my FF. Old follower.

  12. Thanks for stopping by and following! Now following back!

I'm sad that you didn't like the Falling Under series! But I can see what you mean about the characters changing so much. There was definitely a noticeable difference.

As far as the Immortals, I'm right there with you. I read maybe to the third book and I was just sick of it. However I'll end up finishing it eventually because I just like to torture myself :P lol

  13. I haven't read either of those series, but I definitely agree that authors shouldn't use science as explanations if they can't expand or make up something plausible in detail.
Thanks for stopping by and following!
    Following you back.

  14. You know, I was looking at both of those series and wasn't entirely sold on either of them-- I think it would bother me if there wasn't a lot of detail going into why Daimen was immortal (I love world building!). Sounds like the first Falling Under might be a good library find, though :)
