Week One: Covers - Second Favorite! Josh Farrar's "A Song For Bijou"+ Ellen Oh's Prophecy/Warrior & Sarwat Chadda's The Savage Fortress/The City of Death giveaway!

So we're now onto Day Two of our favorite covers week.
I found this cover on Pinterest during the first wave of the #Weneeddiversebooks hashtag. Normally It's hard to say what draws me to a cover, but I know one thing is for sure: I love to see People of color front and center on book covers! Even better when it's an interracial couple or set of friends!
So today's highlight is......

A Song for Bijou by Josh Farrar
This cover is bright and eye catching and totally depicted the two main characters of the book!Often times books have characters on the covers and unfortunately it's stock art that you've seen on probably like 5 other covers somewhere down the line. But this? This cover was just superb because it captured exactly how I saw Alex and Bijou in my head.

This cover was one of those cases where the cover highly influenced my purchase of the book and I totally did judge a book by it's cover. But it paid off, because not only did I love the book and rate it 5 stars, but it's made me a loyal fan of writer, Josh Farrar . This story made me want to be a tween again just to fall in love for the first time!

You already know what draws us @Twinja's to covers but we'd love to know, What draws you guys to covers?

Don't forget to comment for a chance to win Ellen Oh's "Prophecy/Warrior" and Sarwat Chadda's "The Savage Fortress/The City of Death!"All you have to do is comment and you're automatically entered! It's that easy!

Honor to have you hop over to comment! Love your blog, and love to see more Afro-Latinas blogging! You wouldnt believe how much our voice is needed. Especially in books! Only know of three afro-latinas in books as main characters. Any you can recommend?

  3. Now that is a kind of cover I'd like to see more often! It's a bit middle grade-ish but it's super cute. Adding it to my TBR pile.

I tend to notice covers that have bright colors, bold lettering and some element of fantasy in it. I just cant resist buying books like that. :)

  4. @Ashfa, Well it is a middle grade book, But i swear they're really mature for middle graders. The main character reminded me of a YA character. But really the story is so good! You should totally look into this one!
