October 2014 Martial Arts Spotlight: Michael Jai White #BSFM

We only have a few hours until the month of October is over, but that also means we have a few hours of Black Speculative Fiction Month left!

It seemed appropriate to highlight a martial artist at the end of the month, who's not only of African descent, but particularly known to many of us Speculative Fiction fans.

So who's this month's Martial Arts Spotlight?

You guessed it! Michael Jai White.
What's especially awesome about Michael, is that he was raised just a few towns from where we live in our humble state of Connecticut right now!

We even took a few classes from a Black Sensei who was really good colleagues with him, so maybe we'll cross paths with him one day, but until then, we'll just have to admire him from a far!

While Mr. White holds black belts in about seven different styles of Eastern martial arts, his background started in Shotokan Karate.

How is he Speculative Fiction you ask? For all y'all young'ens too young to remember the 90's, he was actually the man who played the original "Spawn" in it's cinematic release.
Since we are now in a new age of technology, where most of us now watch television on the web, you may recognize him as Jax Briggs in the Mortal Kombat reboot web series, Mortal Kombat: Legacy.
So besides being fine, he's had a successful movie career playing people many of us recognize from playing video games or reading comic books.

Ima just post a smiling pic of this dude. Just as fine as ever. Dont be surprised if your heart stops. We promised gorgeous martial artists until the end of the year.
 Yea Michael...We see you ;p
