I actually read this book sometime around last year, and I loved it for the inclusivity as far as highlighting the diversity of how Black women look.
The characters are in college, and it has a suspense/thriller feel, which you don't see as much in YA/NA, but it heavily blurs the lines of what it YA and what is NA.
Reasons I choose The Legacy/Birthright Trilogy:
~It's set at a fictional HBCU. That stands for Historically Black Colleges and Universities. I'm not saying there are no NA books set at HBCUs, but this is the first one that I saw that was set in one.
~It's full of drama. I don't think I've ever read a NA book with the hopes there wouldn't be drama, so I'm glad to say there's plenty of conflict!
~A woman of color lead! Duh!
~There's an entire series centered around it, so there's more to it than just The Legacy.
I almost met this author last at Bmore Book Fest, but it was so confusing to navigate, we never found her tent!
